Our sponsors and partners have helped the Belonging Project grow from a simple idea into a nationwide travelling exhibition, engaging communities through photo shoots, workshops, and panel events.
Photographer Laurence Gibson initially reached out to the Migrant Centre NI to collaborate on the project, and secured primary funding through the Intercultural Arts Grant awarded by the Arts Council NI in December 2013. Belonging is also the recipient of the Good Relations Grant awarded by the Belfast City Council. The Project received donations from the 2015 Belfast Cathedral Sit-Out and Lush Cosmetics in 2016.
Beginning in March 2014, we began our partnership with Libraries NI to showcase the exhibit at a different library in Northern Ireland each month. To date, we've exhibited Belonging to great community interest at Falls Road Library, pairing the exhibit with a series of workshops on cultural diversity, identity, and migrant experiences. Belonging held an exhibition at Ardoyne Library, as well as at locations in Shankill and Derry/Londonderry.
