My name is Ishani Ratnayake. I'm 23. I'm from Sri Lanka. I came to Northern Ireland two years ago, and I'm currently studying law at Queen's, so that's why I moved to Belfast temporarily--until I finish my education. I went to a school back in Sri Lanka which was established by Irish missionaries, but I never dreamt of coming to Ireland to study. I spent a couple of years in London studying, but then I came across Queen's and I really liked the university and the program, so I moved here to do a law degree.
The object I brought with me is a bag--it's a really colourful bag. Basically why I brought that is it reminds me of the culture and tradition and the roots that I come from. It's a constant reminder of belonging and who I am.
